The State Republican Academic Korean Musical Comedy Theater is the oldest national theater in Kazakhstan and the first national Korean theater in the world.

History
Beginning
In 1931, the Far Eastern Regional Theater of Korea was created in Vladivostok on the basis of amateur art circles. [one]
In the late 1930s, the theater began to operate in Kazakhstan as the Korean Theater of Musical Drama: in 1937 - 1941 - in Kzyl-Orda , in 1942 - 1959 - in the city of Ush-Toba, Alma-Ata Region , in 1959-1968 - again in Kyzylorda. [one]
In 1960, the troupe of the theater was replenished with graduates of the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute. [2]
People’s artists of the Kazakh SSR Kim Ding , N.P. Lee , Lee Ham Dec , honored artists of the Kazakh SSR Yong Sen Nen , G.M. Kan , Men Don Uk , A.A. Pashkov made a significant contribution to the establishment and development of the theater. Te Den Gu , Thai Diang Chun , Tsai Yong , Honored Artists of the Kazakh SSR V.A. Kim, V.E. Republican Theater
In 1966, the theater received the status of a republican [1] . In 1967, a professional pop ensemble “Ariran” was organized at the theater [3] . In 1968, the theater moved to Alma-Ata , [1] the theater occupied the building at ul. Dzerzhinsky (now Nauryzbay Batyr St.), which until 1999 he shared with the Uyghur Theater of Musical Comedy .
In 1969, the play “The Kremlin Chimes” by N.F. Pogodin was staged in the theater, in which the stage image of V.I. Lenin was first created on the Korean theater stage, the role of which was played by N.P. Lee . [one]
In 1975, the troupe of the theater was replenished with graduates of the Alma-Ata Institute of Arts . [2]
In 1978, the name of the theater was changed to the Korean Musical Comedy Theater. [one]
The theater team toured the Dzhambul , Kzyl-Orda , Taldy-Kurgan , Chimkent regions of the Kazakh SSR, as well as the Kyrgyz SSR , Uzbek SSR , Karakalpak Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic , and the Sakhalin Oblast of the RSFSR . [one]
In 1982, the theater performed with a creative report in Moscow . [1] In the same year, the theater was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor. [2]
In the late 1980s, the theater team included the People's Artist of the Kazakh SSR Lee Ham Dec , honored artists of the Kazakh SSR Men Don Uk , E. L. Bogushevsky, honored artists of the Kazakh SSR V. A. Kim, Kim Ko Nam , P. A Kim, R.I. Lee, A.H. Moon, M.S. Pak, O. C. Son, Choi Bon Do. [one]
Independent Kazakhstan
After Kazakhstan gained independence and the establishment of diplomatic relations between sovereign Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea in the field of economics and culture, the Kazakh Korean theater opened up new opportunities.
- 1991 - The Republican Korean Theater became the sister city of Seoul State National Theater.
- 1992 - at the World Festival of National Theatrical Art in Seoul, the theater won the first prize for the play based on Khan Ding's play “Do Not Rock the Tree”.
- 2002 - at the International Theater Festival in the city of Gongdu ( Republic of Korea ), a performance based on the play by Choi Yong Gein “Do not Die Young” became the laureate.
- 2002 - October 1, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev visited the Korean theater in connection with its 70th anniversary [4] .
- 2003 - the theater began to give performances in its own building (the former cinema "Zhalyn") at ul. Papanin 70/1, corner of Yaroslavl [5] , provided by the government of Kazakhstan. All seats in the auditorium of the Korean theater are a gift from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and the Overseas Koreans Fund has provided the necessary equipment.
- 2003 - the ethnographic ensemble "Samulnori" of the Korean theater received the Grand Prix at the festival in Seoul .
- 2005 - Lee Yong Ho , the artist and director of the State National Theater of Seoul, came to Almaty twice to participate in the legend of Yangan as an actor and to stage the performance of Chunhyaden as a director.
- 2006 - for the first time in decades, the theater went on tour in the cities of Russia, including Moscow , with the performance “Ariran” by Choi Yen Gyna and the pageant “Kazakhstan is my native land”, the theater was a huge success with the audience. The performance "The House of Bernard Alba" participated in international theater festivals in Germany and South Korea.
- 2007 - a tour of the cities of the Russian Far East with a final performance in Vladivostok - a project of the Korean Theater "Memory Train" dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the theater.
- 2007 - The Korean diaspora in Kazakhstan celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Koreans on Kazakh soil and the 75th anniversary of the Korean theater. In honor of the jubilee, the book History of the Korean Theater by Dr. East. Sciences of George Kahn and writer Tsoi En Geun.
- 2009 - theater landing: four Kazakhstani theaters: Kazakh State Academic Drama Theater named after M. O. Auezov , State Academic Russian Drama Theater named after M. Yu. Lermontov , Kazakh State Academic Theater for Children and Youth named after G. Musrepov and State Republican Korean musical comedy theater successfully performed in front of the audience in Seoul .
- 2010 - return visit: Korean artists of the San, Mulkel, Choin theaters from the city of Seoul performed on the stages of Kazakh theaters.
- 2010 - on the stage of the theater was shown a performance based on the play by the famous Russian writer Anatoly Kim “Fairy Path in the Garden”.
- 2012 is the anniversary year of the 80th anniversary of the Korean theater. In September, during the festive events “Days of the Korean Theater”, a museum of the Korean Theater was opened at it [6] .
- 2017 - the theater was given the status of "Academic" (Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 105 of March 3, 2017).
