Avtovo (railway station)

The station opened in 1881 .

In 2008, a comprehensive reconstruction of the station ^[2] was carried out (electrification and extension of the receiving and sending tracks).

During the reconstruction, the pre-revolutionary station buildings built in the brick style with modern elements were demolished.

The station completes on the west side the " southern port branch " of the St. Petersburg railway junction . The station’s western mouth passes into numerous access routes to the cargo terminals of the southern part of the Sea Port of St. Petersburg (Avtovo station serves 3 and 4 port areas, 1 and 2 - located to the north of Novy Port station ^[3] ). Along the southernmost of these paths is the road to Coal Harbor and the Red River flows. The Avtovo overpass built in 1980, along which Prospect Marshal Zhukov passes, stretches over the western neck.

Above the eastern neck are the Avtov Tram overpass and the Stachek Avenue automobile overpass, built in 2002. Further, the paths from the station are separated: to the north there is a branch to the Narvskaya station and further to the northern “ Putilov branch ”. Until the mid-2000s. it was the only exit from the station; the branch going to the southeast was a junction with the Avtovo electric depot in the St. Petersburg metro ^[4] . Then the branch was extended and connected with the paths towards the Leninsky Prospekt platform , which are then divided into two directions - at st. Preportovaya and Art. Ligovo . On the platform side, as well as on the side of the Avtovo station, there are connections to the Narvskaya station, which cross the Krasnoputilovskaya street at two crossings , which causes regular traffic jams on it ^[5] .
