Climate
The climate of Jura greatly depends on the height of the area. Thus, the lowlands have a pleasant temperate climate typical of this part of Western Europe , however, severe cold winters occur in the mountains (in particular, France set a temperature record of minus 47 ° C in Jura).
History
Jura is one of the first departments formed during the French Revolution in March 1790 . It arose in the territory of the former province of Franche-Comté. The name comes from the Jura mountain system [1] .
On the territory of the Jura department is the ancient monastery of Saint-Claude , among whose rectors at different times were St. Eugend (V — VI centuries) and St. Ribarius (VIII century).
Economics
Jura is a region of growing grapes. Wines Jura have pronounced distinctive properties.
