Piranhas ( port. Piranhas ) is a municipality in Brazil , part of the state of Alagoas . A component of the Sertan Mesoregion of Alagoas State . Included in the economic and statistical microregion of Alagoana do Sertan do San Francisco . The population is 24,651 people ( 2008 ) [1] . It covers an area of 409.1 km².
