The State Committee of the Russian Federation for Fisheries (State Committee for Fisheries) in the system of executive authorities of the Russian Federation was re-established on September 25, 2007 [1] , although similar structures existed in Russia since 1919 [2] . He ended his activity on May 12, 2008 as a result of conversion to the Federal Fisheries Agency .
The State Committee for Fisheries was a federal executive body, which was directly managed by the Government of the Russian Federation , with the following functions:
- on the development of state policy and legal regulation in the field of fisheries , production activities on vessels of the fishing fleet , the protection, study, conservation, reproduction and use of aquatic biological resources and their habitats;
- on the control and supervision of aquatic biological resources and their habitats in the inland waters of the Russian Federation, with the exception of inland sea waters of the Russian Federation, as well as the Caspian and Azov seas, before determining their legal status;
- for the provision of public services, management of state property in the field of fisheries, the rational use, protection, study, conservation and reproduction of aquatic biological resources and their habitats, as well as fish farming (excluding industrial fish farming), fish processing, ensuring the safety of navigation and rescue work in fishing areas, production activities on fishing fleet vessels and in seaports in the part related to servicing fishing vessels Thought fleet.
By presidential decree of 05/12/2008 N 724, the Committee was transformed into the Federal Fisheries Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation . By the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation “On the Federal Agency for Fisheries” dated May 30, 2008, the agency was transferred [3] to the direct subordination of the Government of the Russian Federation.
