Career
Club
He started his career in the provincial football team "Hale Barnes United", in Cheshire , where he played mainly in midfield . There he was spotted by scouts of the Sheffield United club and invited to the club’s football academy. He quickly went from youthful to main team, in the last he made his debut on May 5, 2000 in the final match of the league that season against Swindon Town . The day after the match, the prospective junior was offered a professional contract, and he continued his career in the main team of the club.
He made his way into the main team and entrenched there in the 2002/03 season . That season was very successful for him, Jagelka progressed in his skill, showed beyond his years a mature game, becoming one of the team leaders. Since that season, and especially in the 2005 summer transfer window , many transfer offers from Premier League clubs have been received at Jagelka, but the player and the club have rejected them all. Yagelka said that he was happy to continue playing for Sheffield United, and club coach Neil Warnock noted that Yagelka wasn’t for sale.
In August 2006, the player signed a new contract with Sheffield United for 3 years. In September 2006, he brought his club the first victory in the Premier League for 12 years, starting in April 1994, scoring the decisive goal in the match with Middlesbrough (2: 1) in the final minutes. In the home match of the league on December 30, 2006 against Arsenal in London after goalkeeper Sheffield injury Paddy Kenny was forced to take place at the goal for the remaining half hour, his save in the end after hitting Robin van Persie helped United to win 1: 0.
In general, the season 2006/07 was unsuccessful for Sheffield United: the club flew to the Championship , and at the end of the season Jagielka still left the club, which he gave 8 years, becoming the leader of the team and the favorite of fans. On July 4, 2007, for 4 million pounds sterling (the largest amount ever paid for a Sheffield United player in history), he transferred to Everton [3] . In the very first season, the footballer managed to gain a foothold in the first team: Yagelka played 49 matches in which he scored 2 goals. At the end of his second season at Goodison Park , the defender was recognized as the best player of the club, both in the opinion of the fans and the players in the team. In the 2009/10 season, he missed a significant number of matches due to injury, but a year later he regained his place at the heart of the Liverpool club.
In the national team
He played for the youth team of England . For the first national team in favor since 2008. Took part in one qualifying match for the 2010 World Cup , but was not included in the application for the tournament itself.
In the selection for Euro 2012 played in three games. May 28, 2012 was included head coach"Three Lions" by Roy Hodgson in the application for the tournament instead of the injured Gareth Barry [4] .
