“ Channel ” ( Polish. Kanał ) is a feature film by Polish director Andrzej Wajda . Laureate of the special prize of the 1957 Cannes Film Festival . The second film from Wajda’s trilogy about World War II , which also includes the films “ Generation ” and “ Ash and Diamond ”.

According to testimony of Andrzej Wajda, the film was inspired by the poem of the Polish poet Jozef Shchepansky “ Czerwona zaraza ” (Red infection) [1] .
Content
Story
The film tells about the tragic fate of a group of soldiers of the Home Army during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 , which is trying to leave the center of Warsaw through sewer channels [2] .
