History of Opera Art in Krasnoyarsk

In 1887 - 1888, Sergei Mikhailovich Beznosikov, musician, student of N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov , who was educated at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, created the first symphony orchestra in Krasnoyarsk . Its members included amateur musicians and musicians of a military orchestra. The orchestra on the stage of the city ​​theater performs works by A. Dargomyzhsky , M. Balakirev , music from the operas Life for the Tsar by M. Glinka ; "Rognedy" A. Serov , "Mermaid" A. Dargomyzhsky .

In 1897, the troupe of V. I. Rozanov presented to the public the operas The Mermaid by A. Dargomyzhsky, Pebbles by S. Monyushko, Life for the Tsar by M. Glinka, The Askold Grave by A. Verstovsky, Mazep by P. Tchaikovsky , “Pagliacci” by R. Leoncavallo, “Faust” by C. Gounod, “Samson and Delilah” by C. Saint-Saens, “Troubadour” by D. Verdi and several operettas [2] .

In Krasnoyarsk was born and began to speak V. R. Peacock . In the summer of 1897, Pavel Iosifovich Ivanov-Radkevich came to Krasnoyarsk from St. Petersburg and became the leader of the choir of the Krasnoyarsk Theological Seminary . In 1918 P.I. Slovtsov arrived from Petrograd to Krasnoyarsk . On April 5, 1920, at the initiative of P. I. Ivanov-Radkevich and with the active participation of Slovtsov, the People’s Conservatory was opened in Krasnoyarsk, the first director of which was P. Ivanov-Radkevich [3] . In 1923, P.I. Slovtsov and his wife M.N. Rioli-Slovtsova renew opera performances.

In 1920-1922, the first Soviet theater worked in the city; his opera company staged scenes from operas, operettas, gave symphony concerts.

At the end of 1924, on the basis of the amateur collective of P. I. Slovtsov, an opera troupe was created under the name "Labor Opera Collective" consisting of one hundred people. The City Council allowed to use the theater building named after A.S. Pushkin , and allocated a subsidy of three thousand rubles. The troupe staged forty-four performances.

During the war in Krasnoyarsk on the stage of the Drama Theater. A.S. Pushkin worked evacuated troupe of Odessa and Dnepropetrovsk opera and ballet theaters.

Opera and Ballet Theater

The Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theater was created on December 30, 1976 .

The building was built in 1966-78 by the project of the laureate of the State Prize of the USSR Union architect I.A. Mikhalev. Originally intended for the Krasnoyarsk Theater of Musical Comedy; In the early 70s, when it was decided to open an opera and ballet theater in the city, the author made significant changes to the original project. The opening of the theater was timed to the 350th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk, located on the eponymous square ( now Theater Square ).

The first performance - the opera of A. Borodin "Prince Igor" - the theater presented on August 12, 1978. The first theater season was opened by Alexander Borodin's opera Prince Igor ( December 20, 1978 ) and Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s ballet Swan Lake ( December 21, 1978 ). The theater hosted the absolute premieres of the operas Woe from Wit by Banshchikov (1985), Hamlet by Slonimsky (1993), Odyssey ballets by Gevorkyan (1983), White Deer by Banevich (1987), and the musical Under the First Star by Pleshak ( 2000); for the first time in the USSR, Bizet's opera Don Procopio (1983) and the rock ballet Jesus Christ the Superstar to the music of the rock opera by E. L. Webber (1989) were staged.
