History
CJSC e-port Group was founded in 1999 by Boris Kim. The main activity was the development and promotion of technological solutions for the organization of payment acceptance points, the creation of tools and infrastructure to pay for a wide range of everyday services.
OSMP CJSC was founded in 2004 by Andrey Romanenko with partners; Initially, the company was engaged in the installation of software products in mobile phone stores and POS-terminals in retail outlets for receiving payments from the public. The first payment terminals were developed and released at the end of 2005 [10] .
In 2006, the company was established - the operator of electronic payments LLC Mobile Wallet.
In April 2008, the retail payment service brand Qiwi was launched on the market.
Since May 2008, OSMP CJSC and e-port Group CJSC entered the Cyprus holding company established by the Digital Sky Technologies Foundation and the management of OSMP and e-port companies - OE Investments Ltd. (registered in February 2007). The holding also included the Direct Contact advertising agency and the Mobile Wallet company [11] [12] [13] . On the basis of the Mobile Wallet, the Qiwi Personal Account payment service was launched in the same year.
In August 2009, the merger of OSMP and e-port Group was announced. OE Investments Ltd. holding became the owner of 100% of the shares of the united OSMP CJSC. As a result of this, the largest network for receiving payments appeared on the territory of Russia [14] [15] .
In October 2010, OSMP CJSC became the owner of Joint-Stock Commercial Bank 1st Processing Bank CJSC, having acquired 100% of its shares.
In October 2010, OE Investments Ltd. Holding was renamed Qiwi Ltd. [16] . At the same time, it announced its intention to unify the brands of the other companies included in the holding: change “Qiwi Personal Account” to “Qiwi Wallet”, “1st Processing Bank” - to “Qiwi Bank”, “Direct Contact” - to “Qiwi Advertising " etc.
Since June 2011, the processing system of the e-port Group was closed; processing of all transactions from this moment occurs only with the help of Qiwi processing [17] .
In November 2012, a cooperation agreement was signed between Qiwi and Visa during the project to create a “co-branded electronic wallet,” and “Qiwi Wallet” was renamed “Visa Qiwi Wallet” [18] .
In February 2013, Qiwi Ltd. Holding was transformed into Qiwi plc Public Joint-Stock Company [5] ; later, the company conducted an IPO on the NASDAQ New York Stock Exchange, during which shares were sold for $ 212.5 million, and the company itself was valued at $ 884 million [19] , while:
Mail.ru Group sold three million shares of 51.7 million dollars, as a result of which its package was reduced to 15.5% of the shares and 19.8% of the vote.
