Content
Story
Agostino ( Lino Toffolo ) is an organist who, as a result of a series of failures, loses his van, which served him both as a vehicle and home. Fortunately, he meets the Marquis Luca Maria ( Marcello Mastroianni ), an impoverished aristocrat who is known in the area for his hobbies: flying in a balloon, growing rare varieties of tulips and playing the cello . The Marquise's mansion, a magnificent building in the style of the 18th century , recalls the elegant balls of the time. This atmosphere returns every time when Agostino (on organ ) and Luca (on cello) perform works of Vivaldi .
Luke is completely absorbed in the past and constantly talks with an imaginary woman, calling her his wife. Agostino plays along with the marquise, fearing that he might lose his roof over his head. Meanwhile, the agents of a real estate company, long wanting to buy a mansion, are planning to declare the Marquise crazy, and to acquire the estate with the help of his aunt ( Flora Carabell ). The prostitute Nadia ( Claudia Mori ) intervenes in this plan, whose natural greed is used by the friends of the marquise in order to play the necessary role of the marquise's wife and thereby preserve the property.
It is possible to disrupt the sale of the house, but Nadia is in no hurry to part with the role of the marquise. When she becomes too greedy and completely unbearable (for example, she paints with red paint the old frescoes on the walls of the mansion, under the pretext of redecorating the room), they get rid of it, releasing it in free flight in a balloon.
