High Society (film, 1956)

"High Society" ( English High Society ) - a film in the genre of musical comedy with music and songs by Cole Porter , filmed in 1956 in the United States. This is a “musicized” remake of the sensational Philadelphia Story , with Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant . Both films are based on play Philadelphia Story. The main roles in the film “High Society” are played by Grace Kelly , popular singers Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra , as well as singer and musician Louis Armstrong , who starred under his own name. For Grace Kelly, this was the last movie work before she became the princess, wife of the Prince of Monaco .

Content

Story

A young lady from a wealthy respectable family, Tracy Samantha Lord ( Grace Kelly ), is about to get married. Her chosen one is the manager of her father’s company, George Kittridge ( John Lund ). The wedding is scheduled for the next day. At the same time, her ex-husband, pop singer Dexter Haven ( Bing Crosby ) arrives at a jazz festival in the neighborhood. A little later, Louis Armstrong appears, personally, accompanied by his jazz orchestra. Dexter, although divorced from Tracy, still continues to love her and hopes to restore relations. To the best of his ability, he intends to impede the intended wedding. His presence involuntarily makes Tracy recall those wonderful days that he and Dexter had in the past.

Spy Boulevard Magazine (Spy) sends two reporters to the House of Lords: journalist Mike Connor ( Frank Sinatra ) and female photographer Liz Imbri ( Celeste Holm ). Their task is to prepare an article for the magazine about this high-society wedding. Tracy really does not like that their names will appear in the yellow press, and she begins to play reporters in various ways, in order to create confusion and confusion. Mike Connor refers to the rich Lords with a mockery, however, subdued by the charm of Tracy, falls in love with her. Under the influence of a minute, it is ignited by a reciprocal feeling. Thus, by the beginning of the wedding ceremony, Tracy is in a difficult situation: she has to make a choice between three men ...

The film is repeatedly interrupted by musical and song numbers, in which Bing Crosby , Grace Kelly , Frank Sinatra , Louis Armstrong and his jazz band take part.
