Group History
In 2005, Manowar band leader Joey De Mayo and vocalist Maria Breon decided to create a symphony - a power metal band with female vocals [1] . Guitarists Joe Stump and Tom Hess, keyboardist Francisco Palomo , bass player Jay Rigney and former Manowar drummer Kenny Earl Edwards were invited to the group. De Mayo became the producer of the group. Instead of releasing the album immediately, it was decided to first gain fame and the group went in 2005 with Rhapsody and Manowar on the Demons, Dragons and Warriors tour. In 2007, the tour continued and the first single Apocalypse [2] was released, which contained a cover version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s song The Phantom of the Opera , sung together with Eric Adams , and three own songs. In the same year, Tom Hess left the group.
In the summer of 2009, the group performed at Provinssirock festivals in Finland , Hellfest in France , Metalway Festival in Spain , B'estfest aftershock in Romania , Norway Rock Festival in Norway and Magic Circle Festival in Germany [3] and the band released its first full-length album, titled like the Holyhell group itself. By the time of its release, the group had already officially begun to position itself as a gothic metal band. In addition to the band members, such famous musicians as David Feinstein from Elf and Manuel Staropoli from Rhapsody Of Fire took part in the writing of the music. Joey De Mayo, together with Maria Breon, wrote most of the lyrics. The booklet for the album was illustrated by artist Ken Kelly .
In 2012, the band released EP Darkness Visible - The Warning , which contains three songs from the upcoming album. The new Darkness Visible album was due out in the fall of that year. It was reported that the recording was made at Wisseloord Studios with the participation of Grammy-winning sound engineer Darcy Proper [4] .
In February 2013, it became known that the group had stopped working with Joey De Mayo and Magic Circle Music. The musicians said that the group will continue to exist under the new direction, and the second album will be re-recorded [5] . In April 2014, a new statement said that the group continues to overcome the prevailing difficulties and record the album. The musicians also posted one new song for free download on the Internet [6] .
