He [1] (sometimes hei or ѓey ) ( Heb. הֵי ) is the fifth letter of the Hebrew alphabet . In Hebrew, deaf glottal slotted consonant [ h ]. The letter ה at the end of the word can be used as the mother of reading . It is one of the five letters that a strong dagesh cannot carry, i.e. don't double.

And in the role of the mother of reading, and in the role of the usual letter (both at the beginning of the word and at the end) it can be part of many auxiliary elements of the word, for example:
- as a mother of reading with the previous vowel of kamats - the end of the feminine ;
- at the end of the word with the preceding vowel kamatz and mappik - the pronoun ending denoting “belonging to her”;
- at the end of the word with the previous vocalization segol - iodine and with kamatz below - the pronoun ending, meaning "belonging to her";
- at the beginning of a word with pronouncement of stalemate and strong dagesh in the next letter - a definite article , as well as a union before the sacrament;
- at the beginning of the word with the vowel of the hataf patah - a questioning particle.
The letter ה came from the Phoenician letter 𐤄 .
