TG21 and TG22 are mainline diesel locomotives designed for driving freight and passenger trains in various climatic conditions with a wide range of ambient temperatures.

The diesel locomotive TG21 is a two-section double-cab, and the TG22 is a single-section double-cab. TG21 is equipped with four autonomous power plants, and TG22 is equipped with two autonomous power plants. From each cabin, any power plant and diesel locomotive as a whole are controlled.

- Diesel - 6CHN21 / 21 four - stroke six - cylinder with in-line arrangement of cylinders, with gas turbine supercharging with intercooler. The rotation frequency is 1400 rpm.
- Hydraulic transmission - GP-1050/211 with two torque converters and one hydraulic coupling . GP can be equipped with a hydrodynamic retarder. The use of a retarder reduces wear on the brake pads and wheels of a locomotive. The system of automatic control of hydraulic transmission is a two-pulse electro-hydraulic.
- Biaxial carts with drive axle boxes . The transmission of traction from the trolley to the main frame is carried out by a lever mechanism located at the level of the axis of the wheelset. The type of drive to the moving wheelsets is a cardan drive with gears on the axles of the wheelsets.
- The brake system provides braking of a diesel locomotive with an auxiliary brake crane, emergency and service braking of a train and a diesel locomotive, compressed air drying system and automatic brake line break monitoring. The compressor VU 3,5 / 9-1450-L is a two-stage V-shaped, with a nominal capacity of 3.2 m³ / min. The hand brake holds the locomotive on a slope of up to 30 ‰.
- The engine room of the section body has doors, hatches and removable roof elements, providing easy access to the units for maintenance, repair and dismantling. The driver’s cab has been developed taking into account current sanitary and hygienic requirements. Instruments for monitoring the parameters of the power plant and auxiliary units, equipment for control and safe operation of the train are conveniently located. The locomotive provides a vigilance system.
Postscript
In total, one diesel locomotive TG21 and six diesel locomotives TG22 were built.
TG22-001, −002, −003, −004 from the plant were delivered to the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk locomotive depot , TG22-005 entered Kholmsk , and TG22-006 went to Poronaysk . In 1994, they underwent modernization at the Lyudinovo diesel locomotive plant. As of 2006, all six TG22 diesel locomotives were in mothballed condition at the Tymovsk depot reserve. [one]
