Seattle Sounders FC is an American professional football club based in Seattle , Washington . Since 2009, has been playing at MLS , the highest professional football league in the USA and Canada. The team’s home stadium is Century Link Field . This is the third club in the history of football with the same name - the first club played in the North American Football League in 1974-1983, then it was disbanded, the second existed in 1994-2008 and played in the leagues of the second division.

Content
Name, emblem and colors
The name "Sounders" ( English sounders , "residents of the Gulf (sound)") comes from Puget Sound - the gulf in Washington, on the banks of which Seattle is located. The emblem of the club captures Seattle's landmark and symbol - the Space Needle Tower. The colors of the team are shades of blue ( Pantone 647C ), green ( Pantone 370C ) and dark gray ( Pantone 433C ) [1] .
Owners and organization
The club is owned by four investors. The majority owner is Hollywood producer Joe Roth . Minority shareholders are also Adrian Hanauer , the former owner of the now defunct Seattle Sounders team from USL-1; Paul Allen , co-founder of Microsoft , owner of the Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers ; and Drew Carey , comedian and showman. [2] Partnership with Allen allowed the team to share certain resources with Seahoks. More than half of Seahawks's full-time employees also work with Sounders. Teams conduct general ticketing, marketing and financial operations [3] .
On December 16, 2008, the Sounders officially introduced Zigi Schmid as their first head coach [4] . Schmid previously led the Los Angeles Galaxy to victory in the MLS Cup in 2002 and Columbus Crew in 2008. The main assistant coach is Brian Schmezer [5] , Tom Dutra is the goalkeeper coach [6] . MLS veteran, former Ezra Hendrickson quarterback, joined the Sounders as an assistant coach in January 2009. [7] Former MLS player Chris Henderson was appointed Technical Director on January 24, 2009 [8] . Seattle Seahawks longtime official Gary Wright is senior vice president of business operations [9] .
In 2009, the SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily recognized the Seattle Sounders as the professional sports team of the year due to the record success of the team in attendance, as well as reaching the playoffs in its first season [10] [11] . In 2009, the former Seahawks official, Saunders CEO Tod Luveki, was named Puget Sound Business Journal the year’s leader [12] . In the same year, Gary Wright was recognized as the best leader in MLS [13] . In 2012, Seattle Sports Star recognized him as the leader of the year [14] .
