History and Activities
Established in 1836 and has a complex structure, including 18 colleges and 11 institutes: the London School of Business , the London School of Economics and Political Science , University College London and a number of central authorities [1] . Academic University is the second largest medical school in London [2] . Disputes the title of third (in seniority) University of England at the University of Durham . In 1900, the University of London moved to the federal structure. [3]
University College London was founded under the name "University of London" in 1826, as a secular alternative to the religious universities of Oxford and Cambridge [4] .
The most prestigious college of technology - Imperial College London - stood out as an independent university in 2007 .
Classes are taught in 160 buildings, most of which are concentrated in the Bloomsbury district of London . There is a branch in Paris .
