Hridoli ( Georgian ხრიდოლი ) - Georgian martial art , which includes shock and throwing equipment, as well as the possession of traditional bladed weapons.
Until the beginning of the 20th century, in every region of Georgia there were special places reserved for competitions in martial arts, which were carried out in the form of military maneuvers with the participation of thousands of people who fought according to the “ saldasti ” rules (using wooden weapons). The military traditions and customs of the competitions were very diverse, in all, over 30 styles of fighting and hand-to-hand combat stand out in different places.
In the XX century. Georgian hand-to-hand fighting techniques had a certain impact on the development of sambo [1] , however, the Georgian customs themselves fell into decay.
Their revival began in the 1980s . and was based both on the study of folklore sources, and on the developers' own practice. In 1989 with the society to them. Rustaveli created a department of Georgian martial arts, in 1990 the Federation of Georgian Martial Arts (the first president Levan Kikaleishvili) was formed. Many existing and new clubs joined the federation (so far their number has reached 20). In 1999, by a federal decision, four traditional styles were merged into one called Shavparosneby. Since that time, triathlon competitions have been held: the first round - “Georgian wrestling”, the second - “ Khevsuri fencing”, the third - “Georgian boxing”; It is also planned to add a fourth discipline - archery .
