Story
The film takes place in the 1840s. A carriage goes towards Stockholm ; the famous magician and hypnotist Dr. Albert Emanuel Vogler ( Max von Syudov ), the girl Manda Vogler, dressed as a man ( Ingrid Tulin ) and the old witch-go are riding in it. When entering the city, the whole troupe is unexpectedly detained, accusing of quackery. But the very next day Fogler was ordered to make a performance in the house of the consul Egerman ( Erland Jozefson ) ...
Having survived the humiliating interrogation by officials, Vogler makes them feel worthless.
