History
The race has been held annually since 1952. It did not take place only once (in 1974) due to the energy crisis. The format of the race is “one turn of the arrow”: it starts in the light of day, and ends already at night. Despite the fact that in different years the race was included in the offset of different championships, it is a rather prestigious competition. For some time (along with the “ 24 hours of Le Mans ” and “ 24 hours of Daytona ”) the race was included in the so-called “Triple Crown” of the World Championship for sports cars. In addition, it is considered a good testing ground for participation in the "24 hours of Le Mans."
The greatest number of victories on the Sebring track (seven) was won by the crews of the Porshe 935, and one less victory was won by the crew of the Audi R8. In 2007, the diesel prototype Audi R10 won its first victory here.
