The emblem of Myanmar is used in all official government documents, including publications. In the coat of arms there are two mythical lions facing each other, and in its center is a map of Burma placed in front of the cog wheel. The emblem is surrounded in accordance with the traditional Burmese floral design and a star at its top.

The original emblem contained the inscription "Union of Myanmar", three lions (the lion at the top was replaced with a star). Instead of a gear there was a circle surrounded by text in Burmese (MLC Transcription System: ta.pau; tha-baw). However, during the reign of the socialist Non-Vin , the emblem was changed, a gear wheel and double olive wreaths appeared on it. The words have also been changed.
The Burmese emblem contains socialist elements, namely a gear wheel and a star. The emblem shown on this page is written in Burmese: Pyidaungsu Socialist Thamada Myanmar-naing-gan-daw, which actually means “Socialist Union of Myanmar”.
