Traditional chores

Tsaangi are engaged in tropical manual shift farming ( powdery bananas , sweet potatoes , yams , cassava ) and gathering ( stake nuts ). Many residents work in forestry , oil palm plantations, peanuts , and coffee . Food crops are cultivated mainly by women in gardens and fields. Wooden structures are often decorated with carvings. Tsaangi wear clothes of European cut, cotton fabrics prevail. The food is mainly plant-based: the tsangs use pasty pastes and cereals from powdery banana, yams, cassava, sweet potato; sauces from vegetables and fruits. They also eat fish (Tishkov 2000: 360).
