Однажды, спустившись по такому ходу в подвал, Кэйтаро находит Моэ-тян — старинную заводную куклу с неработающими ногами, которой уже больше сотни лет. Её приобрёл ещё его прадед. Сейчас кукла может шевелиться самостоятельно, а Кэйтаро и Отохиме, к тому же, слышат её голос и разговаривают с ней. Кэйтаро целиком замкнулся на кукле — разговаривает с ней, заботится о ней, почти не обращая внимания на окружающих. Мотоко говорит, что кукла, которая просуществовала 99 лет, на сотом году обретает душу демона (см. Цукумогами ). Именно эта душа позволяет кукле двигаться самой и говорить с некоторыми людьми, она же влияет на поведение Кэйтаро. Оказывается, ещё прадед Кэйтаро обещал в своё время починить кукле ноги, а потом это обещание повторил пятилетний Кэйтаро, найдя куклу в подвале.
