Career

Prema began his career with karting when he was 10 years old. He spoke until the transition in 2000 to the French Formula Campus , where most French pilots began their careers. He moved to the French Formula Renault in 2001 and was able to win the title there in 2002. In 2002, he also partially participated in the Formula Renault Renault Euro Cup 2000 .

After combining several national Formula 3 championships in 2003, Prema transferred to the emerging Formula 3 Euroseries in the ASM team with Olivier Pla , who also subsequently took part in the debut season of GP2. He stayed here for the 2004 season, and also won the prestigious Macao and Formula 3 Masters championships that were not included in the Grand Prix Championship.

This allowed him to take part in the 2005 GP2 season for the ART Grand Prix team, run by Nicolas Todt . He was behind team-mate Nico Rosberg , but took the highest place among co-pilots in the championship. Alex stayed with the team, which included the rising British pilot Lewis Hamilton in 2006, and again he was in the shadow of a partner who won the title, and he took third place in the championship.

Prema also took part in the A1 Grand Prix series for the French team in the 2005-06 season , where he and his teammate Nicolas Lapierre won the title of nations. Alex did not return to the series the following season , and the form of the French team worsened.

Prema was a Spyker MF1 Racing reserve driver at the 2006 Chinese Grand Prix . [1] He also performed pre-season tests for the Champ Car Mi-Jack Conquest Racing team . Prema showed the fastest time in several sessions and aimed to participate in this series in 2007. [2] Another opportunity was Formula 1 , where he could be a Spyker test pilot, but he refused. [3]

He ended up driving Audi in the 2007 DTM season and took part in 24 hours of Le Mans also with Audi. In 2008, Prema was still racing in the DTM, and also took part in the Le Mans Series for Audi.
