“Sonatina” ( ソ ナ チ ат Sonatine ) is a film by Takeshi Kitano , who is its author, director and leading actor. He received many awards and is considered one of the best works of the director.

Story
Murakawa, the Tokyo Yakuza , along with several helpers was sent to Okinawa to end the clan war, preferably through negotiations. He believes that the contention is insignificant, and that he was in vain chosen for the role of mediator. However, his temporary headquarters in Okinawa is bombed, and he and his thugs are ambushed in a bar.
A group of yakuza escapes to the seashore, where the violence of the first scenes of the film is replaced by games and teasing each other. However, even their games are tinged with cruelty. Here they are joined by a woman whose rapist was shot dead by Murakawa.
At the end of the film, the group settles accounts with the local Yakuza. Murakawa alone kills an entire council from M16 . However, he soon commits suicide.

It was with the creation of Sonatina that I got the feeling that I had overcome the first stage of teaching directorial skills. This is partly why the film is called Sonatina. First you play plays, and when elementary skills appear, you proceed to learning sonatins.
