Brigade History
Formation
The 100th Infantry Brigade was formed on the basis of the order of the NKO USSR "On the Formation of National Cavalry Divisions and National Infantry Brigades".
The order of the Central Asian Military District on November 26, 1941 defined the beginning of the formation of the brigade.
12/20/41, the brigade was formed, began to study, put together parts and divisions. The national composition of the brigade at the time of formation: Kazakhs 86%; Russians 11%; Ukrainians, Belarusians and other nationalities - 3%.
Due to the national composition, the name of the brigade is often used as the 100th Kazakh Rifle Brigade .
On August 9, 1942, by order of the NPO of the USSR, the brigade from Alma-Ata was redeployed to the city of Babushkin and entered the disposal of the Commander of the Moscow Military District.
Battle Path
On October 19, 1942, by order of the Commander of the Moscow Military District troops No. 994270, the brigade was placed at the disposal of the Commander of the Kalinin Front.

Until January 1943, [1] the brigade commander was Lieutenant Colonel Efim Vasilyevich Voronkov , who was killed during the battles under Velikie Luki from wounds in January 1943.
As part of the 39th Army, the brigade performed certain particular tasks.
11/25/1942, the brigade together with the 46th ISBR after the breakthrough of the 373rd rifle division of the enemy’s defense was introduced into the breakthrough where it operated until 12/07/1942, occupied a number of settlements, and suffered heavy losses - 2,572 people.
From 11 to 20.12.1942, the brigade was in reserve of the 22nd Army in the area of r. Forehead, where she received a replenishment and put herself in order.
From 20 to 12/23/1942, the brigade was transported by road to the Velikie Luki area, where it came under the control of the 3rd Shock Army .
From January 5, 1943 to January 12, 1943, the brigade conducted military operations to eliminate the Velikoluksky grouping of the enemy , suffered heavy losses in the battles, and from January 12, 1943 to October 6, 1943, the brigade was in reserve with the commander of the 3rd Shock Army, performing separate combat missions and doing combat training [2] .

During the Nevelsk offensive, the brigade was in reserve until 10/14/1943 and did not conduct hostilities.
10/15/1943 the brigade conducted military operations to eliminate the enemy in the area of the Bolshoi Ivan and Korotai inter-area with the task of seizing the village and the area of the Izocha station. The team did not fulfill the task, but suffered heavy losses.
From 10/19/1943, the brigade occupied the defense of the northern and northwestern part of the city of Nevel , on 10.31.43, the brigade changed parts of the 146th rifle division and occupied a new area of defense.
4.11.1943, conducted an operation to improve their positions.
In the battles for the Socialist Motherland, the personnel of the brigade showed courage and bravery, for which 215 people were awarded orders and medals.
Brigade disbandment
December 8, 1943 merged with the 31st cadet rifle brigade transformed into the 1st Infantry Division .
Subsequently, the division was awarded the Order of the Red Banner , it was given the honorary title "Brest".
