Title
The name of the film is taken from , a contemporary of Mora, who wrote about him in 1520 as follows:
Pestilence is a man of angelic intelligence and outstanding scholarship. I don’t know his equal. Where else is a man of such nobility, such modesty, such affability? When that time, he is surprisingly cheerful and cheerful, when that time, he is also sadly serious. Man for all time.
Original textMore is a man of an angel's wit and singular learning. I know not his fellow. For where is the man of that gentleness, lowliness and affability? And, as time requireth, a man of marvelous mirth and pastimes, and sometime of as sad gravity. Story
The film was shot according to the script of R. Bolt, who adapted his own play for the screen about the life of the great English humanist Sir Thomas More , a statesman, an outstanding lawyer and philosopher.
Events historically reliably reproduced on the screen take place in England in the 16th century, during the reign of King Henry VIII. The plot is based on the conflict between King Henry VIII and Lord Chancellor Thomas More, ending in the death of the latter.
