She is mentioned in the Morea List, which cites her name in Latin, and reports that she came from lands within the sphere of influence of the Russian Diocese. She is referred to as Wolf’s wife, according to the “Gaelic civil marriage”, implying that the fact of this marriage was not confirmed by church traditions, and that Wolf was already married to Euphemia, Countess Ross . In 1389, Countess Efimia complained to Pope Clement VII that her marriage to Buchan is meaningless, since the Wolf cohabits with Mariotte, and Pope subsequently annulled their marriage (in 1392). The wolf continued to live with Mariotte in the nineties of the XIV century. He had seven illegitimate children, who may all have been children from Mariota. They were the above-mentioned Alexander , Andrew, Duncan, James , Walter, Robert, and Margaret (who married Earl of Sutherland).
