Biography

Born on October 10, 1947 in the village of Nedelishche, Zhytomyr Region , Ukraine . She was the fifth of eleven children in the family of Mitrofan Ustinovich and Antonina Ilkovna Matvienko.

She studied at a boarding school for children from large families in with. Potievka, Radomyshl district, Zhytomyr region .

Since 1968, after graduating from a vocal studio at the Ukrainian Folk Choir named after G. G. Verevki (vocal teacher - Julia Krotkevich), - his soloist. He also collaborates with the vocal trio Golden Keys. As a soloist, she won the All-Ukrainian contest “Young Voices” (1978), the All-Union television contest “With a Song for Life” (1979), the World Competition of Folk Songs in Bratislava (1979), the XII World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow (1985) . In 1979, she became honored , and in 1985 - People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR . Since 1991, she has been a soloist of the National Ensemble of Soloists “Kiev Camerata”.

The singer’s repertoire has many folk songs, including ritual, lyrical, humorous, ballad songs, Ukrainian songs of the XVII-XVIII centuries. Nina Matvienko also collaborates with well-known Ukrainian composers - Yevgeny Stankovich , Oleg Kiva , Miroslav Skorik , Irina Kirilina , Anna Gavrilets , etc.

The singer is actively touring and concerting. Nina Matvienko successfully toured in many countries of the world, such as Poland, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Canada, Mexico, USA. Her work is widely replicated on a variety of media - from gramophone records to CDs.

In 1975 she graduated in absentia from the philological faculty of Kiev University , and was actively engaged in literary work. He is a professor at the Department of Musical Art of the Kiev National University of Culture and Arts .

She starred in television shows (“Maroussia Churai”; “Catherine Belokur”; “Water Spilled on the Four ford”), feature films (“Not a Year Will Pass ...”, 1973; “Farewell to the Pharaohs!”, 1974; “Straw Bells”, 1987), took part in radio shows ("Flight of the Arrow", "Clarinets of Tenderness"). In 1988, the video "Rusalkina Week" was shot with Nina Matvienko. Since 1989 - a member of the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine .

The singer voiced a number of popular science, chronicle and documentary films, several television and radio programs. Nina Matvienko played 16 performances with the La Mama ETC theater in New York. Among the author’s theatrical directorial works of the actress are the musical performance “Under the Sun” (1997) with the participation of the Japanese dancer Tadashi Endo , as well as the grandiose musical stage performance “We Sow the Golden Stone” (1998).

Since 2004, has been actively involved in the political life of the country. After the change of political power in Ukraine in 2014, she criticized Euromaidan and its leaders. In November 2014, she called the deaths on the Maidan and in the east of the country the genocide of the nation [2] [3] .

Family

In 1971 she married the artist Pyotr Gonchar (born 1949), the son of the famous Ukrainian folklorist and ethnographer Ivan Gonchar .

The couple has three children - the sons of Ivan (born 1973), Andrei (born 1974) and daughter Antonina (born 1981). Sons followed the path of their father, both of them are artists. In 2005, Ivan Matvienko tonsured a monk [4] . Her daughter, Antonina Matvienko, continues the work of her mother, sings in the ensemble, took part in competitions.
