Pronunciation
Segal V. S. writes: "The letter" ra "means a solid consonant (p) similar to the corresponding Russian, but pronounced somewhat more energetically. This sound in Arabic is never softened, even before (s). Vowel (a) after (p ) takes on a “back” hue, as in the Russian word “put it.” (Segal V. S. Beginner of the Arabic language, p. 9)
The opinion of B.Z. Khalidov is closer to the science of Tajvid ( orthoepy ): “Sound (p) is a front-language trembling sonant (that is, a sound in which the voice prevails over the noise). When pronouncing it, the tip of the tongue vibrates slightly bent and raised up. Arabic (p) is generally similar to Russian solid (p), but can sometimes be pronounced softly.
The hardest version of this sound is heard before the vowels (a) and (y). For example: rabbi - Lord! rubba - a lot, often. But in front of (and) he is approaching Russian soft ry: riba usury . ” [one]
