It originates in the southwestern slopes of the Serra de Monchique massif. In its upper reaches in 1958, the Bravura reservoir ( port. Barragem da Bravura ) was built with a volume of 35 million cubic meters and an area of 285 hectares [3] . Below the reservoir the river bed describes a wide arc from south to east, running north of the city of the same name . It merges with the Aran River ( port. Ribeira de Arão ) shortly before flowing into the estuary of the River . The construction of a dam around the Quinta de Roca peninsula, forming the northern coast of the estuary in the late 1960s, led to the fact that the Odiashere channel gradually shifted to the west [2] .
Large areas in the Odišere basin are occupied by pastures for livestock. Near the river there is a printing factory [2] .
