It takes its origins in the Serra do Caldeiran mountains , and flows through the territory of the municipalities of São Bras di Al Portel , Tavira , Alcotin , Castro Marin , Faro County. The Odeleite dam ( port. Barragem de Odeleite ), which created the Odeleite reservoir, is installed on the river.
