Born in 1775 and eleven years old, assigned to serve as a cadet in the Artillery Gentry Cadet Corps ; Seven years later, he was transferred with a bayonet-junker to the 1st gunner’s regiment, with which he took part in the Russian war with the Turks and Polish Confederates , earning a gold cross for bravery during the assault on Prague . In 1796 he was promoted to second lieutenant and then transferred successively from one unit to another: to the Gerbel battalion (in 1797), to the 2nd Rezvoy artillery regiment (in 1800), and to the 3rd artillery battalion; of the last part, in 1803 he was dismissed from service by the captain of the staff and was retired for five years.

In 1808, he again entered the service in the Uglitsky Infantry Regiment with the appointment of an adjutant to the Minister of War. In this position, he showed order and energy when setting up a hospital in Finland and recruiting Swedes to our service.

Since the beginning of World War II, he was enrolled in the corps of Count Wittgenstein , showed courage in affairs at Polotsk , Chashniki and Smolyany , for which he was promoted to majors and awarded the Order of St. Anne of the 2nd degree. The campaign of 1813 gave him the opportunity to also show his abilities, and for the difference in affairs at Gamerno, Pirn, Dresden , Kolendorf, Kulm , Peterswald and in the general battle near Leipzig, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel, awarded a gold sword with the inscription "For Courage" and diamond signs to the order of St. Anne of the 2nd degree; in the same campaign, he was appointed acting director of hospitals under the army, thanks to his activities in Finland in 1810.

In the campaign of 1814 r. He also participated in several cases, namely at Nozhak, Barenad, d. Labrucel, Trois and the capture of Paris , for which he received a bow to the Order of St. Vladimir , the Prussian Order of Pur le Merit and the highest favor.

In the same year he was transferred to the Selenginsky Infantry Regiment and continued military service until 1829, when he was first appointed to be under the commander of the 2nd Army, then the chief overseer of the St. Petersburg and suburban military hospitals and in 1830 - the director of military hospitals of the army . In 1831 he was promoted to major general and during the Polish uprising was captured, in which he was from August 25 to September 18. The following year, he again took up the post of chief superintendent of St. Petersburg and suburban military hospitals, and on April 12, 1836 he was appointed inspector of military hospitals at the War Ministry, in which position he remained until his dismissal on January 13, 1847.

Among other awards, Silence had the Order of St. George 4th degree, granted to him on February 15, 1819 (No. 3413 according to the list of Grigorovich - Stepanov).

He died on April 11, 1852.

He was married to Olga Ivanovna Temiryazeva. Their daughter Olga was married the first marriage to Peter Nikolayevich Leontiev (1813-1851), brother of the philosopher-thinker K. N. Leontiev ; 2nd marriage - for Traskin. The family had two more daughters: Sophia and Avdotya.
