Biography
Club career
Pupil of the Greek club " Akratitos ". From 2001 to 2003, he played for the English Burnley in the Football League Championship . In 2003 he moved to one of the strongest clubs in Greece “ Panathinaikos ”. In its composition in 2004 became the champion and winner of the Greek Cup .
On November 18, 2008, Papadopoulos signed a contract with the Italian Lecce [2] . He made his debut for the club on January 18, 2009 in the Italian Championship match against Genoa , which ended in a home defeat for Lecce with a score of 0: 2.
In the summer of 2009 he moved to Zagreb Dynamo. Papadopoulos signed a 3-year contract with the Croats, according to which he was supposed to receive 650,000 euros per year. In December 2009, he left the team as a free agent [3] .
Team Career
As part of the Greek team in 2004, Dimitrios won the European Championship.
Personal life
Dimitrios’s ancestors moved to the USSR after the outbreak of civil war in Greece and settled in the Jizzakh region , which at that time was part of the Kazakh SSR and then became part of the Uzbek SSR, although in some interviews Dimitrios claimed to be a native of Kazakhstan [4] . With his family, he returned to Greece at the age of 7. The Dimitrios family, in addition to Greece, at international competitions supports the teams of Russia and Kazakhstan [5] .
