Valknut was created by Mathias KΓΌster and is licensed under the GNU GPL . The program is written in C ++ and uses the cross-platform Qt library to create a GUI . It is known that the client successfully operates in the following operating systems: Linux , FreeBSD , Mac OS X and OS / 2 - eComStation.
Initially, the project was called DCGUI, but due to the consonance with the name of another DC client, it was renamed dcgui-qt. After that, the authors faced a restriction on the use of the trademark 'Qt' and the client was renamed again, receiving the name Valknut.
Based on the Valknut code, there was an offshoot project called EiskaltDC , later rewritten and called EiskaltDC ++ .
