Biography

Born on April 29, 1958 in the city of Batumi . In 1979, he graduated from the philological department of Batumi State University named after Rustaveli. In 1983 he graduated from the graduate school of the Institute of Ethnography, Archeology and History at the Academy of Sciences of the GSSR (later - Institute of Ethnography, Archeology and History named after Ivane Javakhishvili). In 1988 he graduated from the doctorate of the Institute of Ethnography, Archeology and History at the Academy of Sciences of the GSSR, as well as the doctorate of the Institute of Anthropology and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (later - Institute of Anthropology and Ethnography of the Russian Academy of Sciences). From 1979 to 1993 - Laboratory Assistant, Junior Researcher, Senior Researcher, Leading Researcher at the Batumi Scientific Research Institute at the Academy of Sciences of the GSSR (later - Batumi Berdzenishvili Scientific Research Institute). From 1992 to 2004 - Researcher at the Batumi State University named after Shota Rustaveli. From 2001 to 2003 - Head of the Scientific Information Department of the Batumi Berdzenishvili Research Institute. From 2004 to 2005 - Researcher at Tbilisi Ivane Javakhishvili State University [3] .

In 2004, he was one of the leaders of the public movement Chveni Achara (“Our Ajaria”), which was in favor of the overthrow of the Abashidze regime in the Ajaria, Aslan Ibrahimovic. From 2004 to 2005 - Member of the Parliament of Georgia from the electoral bloc "National Movement - Democrats" (the leader is Saakashvili, Mikhail Nikolozovich ). From 2005 to 2006 - Rector of the Batumi State University named after Shota Rustaveli [4] . Since 2006, in opposition to President Mikhail Saakashvili. Member of the opposition "Republican Party of Georgia".
