ROSTO Serpukhov Aviation Sports Club named after Aleksandr Ivanovich Orlov ( Serpukhov ASK ) is a sports club in Serpukhov . Based at the Drakino airfield . The club provides training for pilots , gliders , parachutists . The basic flying club of the Russian aerobatic teams on airplanes and gliders.
History
The club’s birth date is April 11, 1936 , when, according to the protocol of the Decree of the Presidium of the Serpukhov District Executive Committee of the Soviets of Workers and Peasants and Red Army Deputies, land was allotted under the club’s airfield [1] . During the Great Patriotic War, pupils of Serpukhov ASK served at the front. Seven people received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union . The name of one of them, Alexander Ivanovich Orlov , was given to the club in 1989 . In 1968 , the women's team of paratroopers of the flying club won the title of champions of the RSFSR . In 1995 , the club became the base for the Russian national aerobatics teams on airplanes and gliders [2] .
Achievements
In the course of its many years of activity, the Serpukhov ASK trained 4,500 pilots , 40,000 paratroopers [3] , several thousand gliders and aircraft models . Athletes of the club won a significant number of victories, won many medals at the championships of Russia, Europe and the world, are the authors of world and national records.
The most famous athletes in the history of the club are:
- Irina Stepanovna Kryuchkova - world- class master of sports, two-time world champion, multiple champion of the USSR in parachuting , holder of ten world records.
- Yu. M. Chernov - European Parachuting Champion
- Georgy Kaminsky - bronze medalist of the 2003 World Glider Sport Championship, world glider champion 2005 [4] and 2007 [5]
- Alexander Panferov - master of sports of Russia in aerobatics in airplanes, master of sports of international class in aerobatics in gliders, numerous medalist of the championships of Russia, Europe and the world in airplane and glider aerobatics, world champion in glider in 2001 [4]
- Valentin Barabanov - international master of sports, prize-winner of the world glider aerobatic championships, European champion in the Russian national glider aerobatic team [4]
Interesting Facts
In the summer, on the basis of Serpukhov ASK, the Moscow Regional Council of ROSTO holds a military sports camp for youth of the Moscow region .
