Knorkator is a German band from Berlin , founded in 1994 and performing Neue Deutsche Härte with comedy-parody lyrics and in the same musical spirit. Musicians call their group “The Most Important German Band in the World” (Deutschlands meiste Band der Welt). Outside the rock scene, the group achieved great popularity in 2000 , participating in the selection contest for participation in the Eurovision Song Contest . At this time, she attracted the attention of the public with vulgar texts and a frivolous attitude to music competitions, thereby standing out from the rest of the participants. The group also became famous for its cover versions, which she did on the compositions The Beatles , Boney M , AC / DC and Puhdys .

In 2008, the band broke up after their concert on December 5th. The official reason for the collapse is the desire of the group leader Alpha Ator to leave Germany and emigrate to Thailand . In November 2010, however, the group announced the resumption of creative activity.
The name of the group is based on the German word knorke , which means in Berlin colloquial speech “excellent”, “cool”, “cool”.

History
The musical group Knorkator was formed in 1994, when Alf Ator never attracted much attention to his music, which was similar to the work of Peter Gabriel . Then he decided to do something completely different, according to him to create a real shitty group . To do this, as a vocalist, he invited his friend Stumpen, whom he met at a time when he was just starting to earn money professionally. Then he had to look for work and earn money wherever possible. So, in the course of one of his nursing work, he met Stumpen, whom he actually looked after. Soon the guitarist joined the band, but he did not stay in the band for long and went into a more popular musical project at that time. Then he was replaced by Buzz Dee.
Already in 1995, the debut mini-album A was released . In 1998, on the eve of the release of the debut full-length studio album The Schlechtst of Knorkator ( Rus. The Worst of Knorkator ), the single Böse ( Rus. Evil ) was released and sold about 20 thousand copies. The single was seen as a parody of Rammstein , but Alf Ator says:
When I wrote Böse, I actually thought of all the evil, despicable satanic groups, and not Rammstein at all, but I have to say that I am not at all against this point of view, because Rammstein is also one of such groups.
The producer of Knorkator's debut album is Rodrigo Gonzalez (Rod) from Die Ärzte . The album was a great success, and the major major labels became interested in the release of the releases. Thus, Hasenchartbreaker's second album was released on Mercury Records . In 2000, the third album of the group called Tribute to uns selbst ( Russian Tribute to ourselves ) was released and continued the musical and lyrical concept of the collective. On the album for the first time you can hear the work of a real drummer. At the same time, Knorkator participate in the qualifying competition for the right to participate in Eurovision with the song Ick wer zun Schwein ( Russian. I turn into a pig ). The song took fourth place, and the largest German newspapers wrote about Knorkator . In 2003, the album Ich hasse Musik ( Rus. I hate music ) was released, which was not as provocative as the previous work of the group.
In 2007, Knorkator released a new album, Das nächste Album aller Zeiten ( Rus. Next album of all time ). The singles Wir werden alle sterben ( Rus. We are all going to die ) and Alter Mann ( Rus. Old man ), traditionally ironic, are accompanied by the release of hand-drawn clips. The album cover is designed in the style of drawing the clip Alter Mann .
After the release in 2008 of a double concert DVD, Weg nach unten ( Rus. The Way Down ), the group announces its breakup.
In 2009, the formally disbanded group took part in the tributes of Die Fantastischen Vier ("Tribute To Die Fantastischen Vier") and Scooter ("Hands On Scooter").
After the final collapse of Knorkator, the musicians came to grips with side projects. Alf Ator performs a solo program, and also works as a session musician, in particular, replacing the ill keyboardist Christian Lorenz at several Rammstein concerts. The remaining members of the group also did not stop their musical activity, in particular, Stumpen and Buzz Dee released the album Jesang zur Jitarre und manchmal och Jeije in 2010 and performed joint concerts.
In the fall of 2010, a message appeared about the revival of Knorkator. Since April 2011, the group has been touring Germany. September 16, 2011 the release of the new album Es werde Nicht .
In the summer of 2012, Nick Gogov was announced to leave the Pothead group. The new drummer was ex-Pothead drummer Sebastian Meyer. On tour in South Africa and Russia, the former In Extremo member Morgenstern temporarily occupied the vacant drummer position.
January 17, 2014 released a new album We want Mohr . The pun in his name (Mohr - German: Moor, also used as a derogatory appeal to representatives of the black race ) provoked an inadequate reaction in the German press: the group was accused of racism. [one]
The final concert of the tour in support of the album We want Mohr, held on May 17, 2014, was played by Nikolai Gogov with the group. Sebastian Meyer did not participate in the concert. Later it was announced the return of Nikolai Gogov to the Knorkator group.
Lyrics
The lyrical component of the collective’s creativity is vividly comedic and parody in nature and tells of various abominations and filth. In addition, the lyrics of the group abundantly use profanity. Alf Ator:
I hope that our songs are full of humor, and from this we have fun ourselves. We do not want to mock the groups we parody, on the contrary, we respect them very much. We just specially recorded them in a completely modified form ... And our songs - they seem to be quite the opposite, they make it easier. It's kind of puke after excessive drinking ... We are ordinary evil guys singing about what most of you think, but do not dare to say so. For example, the song Ich Will Nur Ficken ( Russian. I only want sex ) expresses the thoughts of the vast majority of men. Whether you like it or not, it is. For me personally, this song seems to be written on my body, because I think only in such categories.
