History
The first Russian settlements on Uvel land first appeared in the middle of the 18th century as military settlements, which later became part of the Orenburg Cossack army. In 1748, the first settlement appeared - the village of Kichiginskaya, now the village of Kichigino , and in 1749 the village of Nizhneuvelskaya (now the city of Yuzhnouralsk ) as the center of the Uvel Cossacks with a punishable chieftain. Later, in 1758-1759, the Cossack villages Khomutininskaya and Duvankulskaya were laid. In the first half of the XIX century, the territory of the region began to be inhabited by serfs from Kursk, Tambov, Penza and other provinces of Russia.
The Uvelsky district was formed on May 24, 1924 on the basis of the territories of the Andreevsky volost (and part of the territories of neighboring volosts) of the Troitsk district of the Orenburg province .
The district center of the Uvelsky municipal region was founded in 1749 as a military fortress located on the banks of the Uvelka river. Hence the name of the village.
By the beginning of the 20th century, three volosts were located on the territory of the modern Uvelsky district: Andreevskaya (the center is the village of Petrovka), Yegoryevskaya (the village of Mordvinovka) and Yekaterininskaya (the village of Nikolaevka), as well as the village of Nizhne-Uvelskaya, which was subordinate to 26 Cossack settlements.
The official date of the formation of the district is 1924, at the same time the village of Uvelskaya was renamed the village, which became the district center.
The development of industry was promoted by rich mineral deposits: building and molding sand, refractory clay. In 1926, the Nizhne-Uvelsky quarry of the Vostokstal trust was established to produce refractory clay and sand for the country's metallurgical enterprises (now the Chelyabinsk Ore Mining). The Udarnik artel for the production of brick from Uvelsky clay was formed. The Krasnoselsky barite mine was created, industrial mining of coal began at the coal mines Krasnogorsk and Kullar. The oldest enterprise is the railway station Nizhne-Uvelskaya (valid since 1912). The building of the railway station was designed by the famous architect, writer N. G. Garin-Mikhailovsky.
