Don't Go Near The Water is a 1957 comedy about the social interaction of US Navy units located on an island in the Pacific Ocean during World War II . This is a film production of the 1956 novel of the same name by William Brinkley . Starring Glenn Ford and Gia Scala . This is the first of several "ordinary comedies" in which Ford starred after the resounding success of the film " Tea Ceremony ." The film became very successful and further recommended Ford as a skilled comedian.

Story
On a small island in the South Pacific, the U.S. Navy Department of Public Relations is conducting World War II without a single ship nearby. Lieutenant Max Siegel is a deputy of an ignorant commander who is convinced that naval service is the worst punishment for a man.
