Story

1859 year. The film begins with the fact that in England the navigator navigator Huxwell goes at night through the berths and meets the pirate Merik, whom everyone considers to be long dead. Marik tells him that he wants to pretend to be a navigator, after which his uniform and ship papers are taken together with an accomplice. Then Marik kills Huxwell with a well-aimed shot.

1859 year. Norway Haakon Hokonsen - a teenager, awaits the return of his father, a sailor, whom everyone considers dead. His hopes came true, his father returned, but at sea he seriously injured his leg and can no longer swim. There is a huge debt on the farm and it should be sold, but Haakon decides to take his father’s debts on himself and becomes a young man on the ship, under the command of an old captain, a longtime friend of his father. Jens, a family friend and member of the ship’s crew, becomes an “older brother” while traveling. Before leaving, father gives Hokon a dagger and says that it is an amulet that saved him many times in the sea. At the beginning, the sailors laughed at the young man, but, seeing his sincere desire to be useful, they loved him.

While docking in England, a new navigator was hired on the ship, which turned out to be Marik. Once, descending into the hold, Haakon accidentally finds a box with muskets there . He is noticed by Marik and says that the sailors have their secrets. Jung wants to tell the captain about it the next day, but that night the captain was poisoned by Marik. After his death, Marik was proclaimed the new commander of the ship. While docking in Australia , a new crew was hired on the ship. Haakon's comrades were in the minority. At the same time, an orphan girl Mary got on board. Haakon covers her in the hold, and only Jens says this. Marik finds out about this and wants to punish Jens with a whip, but Haakon confesses to the deed. Merik orders Jens to carve a Jung, but at that moment the ship hits the rocks. Haakon and Jens save Mary, and Marik throws them on the ship.

Haakon escapes, but finds himself on a desert island . While living on the island for a long time, he accidentally finds a cave with traps; going around them, he discovers chests with jewels and weapons. Examining things, he finds a fragment of a newspaper with a photograph of Maryk - "pirate of the southern seas." Realizing that the pirates will return to the island, Haakon sets up complicated traps on it. Accidentally seeing another island in the distance, he makes a boat and sets off for him. Among the natives, he also finds Jens and Mary who have survived. Together they return to the island.

Soon Marik sailed on him with a new ship and a team of pirates. Haakon, Jens and Mary learn that their comrades are locked in the hold. Merik arrives on the island, but Haakon's traps turn out to be malfunctioning and do not work. Merik discovers the loss of treasure and enrages. Meanwhile, Haakon gives Mary a gun (the girl knows how to handle it), and she floats on the ship and frees the sailors. Jens and Haakon run away from the pirates, and in the end, Merik drives them, but he himself falls into the trap of Haakon. They save the sailors remaining on the shore and sail to the ship. Pirates chase after them, but Mary with a well-aimed shot from a cannon crashes their boat. The sailors return to Norway, where Haakon repays his father’s debt from Merik’s treasures and thereby redeems the family farm.
