Frederick is the second most populated city in Maryland , USA (after Baltimore). It is part of Frederick County. Population 65,239 (according to the 2010 census). It covers an area of 52.9 km².

Frederick Municipal Airport (FDK) is located in the city, the function of which is mainly air traffic services, as well as the US Army Fort Detrick , the largest employer in the county.
