Zolochevsky district is located in the eastern part of the Lviv region. Borders on the north with Brodovsky , Buskim , in the west with Pustomytovsky , in the south with Peremyshlyansky districts of the Lviv region, in the east with the Ternopil region .
The distance from the state border with Poland to the regional center of Zolochev is about 120 km. The Lviv - Kiev railway line passes through the territory of the district, the Lviv - Ternopol highway, and Lviv - Ivano-Frankivsk highway.
The regional center is located 70 km east of Lviv, on the left bank of the Zolochivka River, a tributary of the Western Bug River .
The main branch of the regional economy is agriculture, specializing in the cultivation of sugar beets and grain crops, as well as the processing industry (agricultural raw materials).
Zolochevsky district has long been famous for pottery . Now the ancient traditions of black ceramics are continued by the masters of the villages of Gavarechina and Shpikolosa.
Population
According to the results of the 2001 All-Ukrainian Population Census, 74.7 thousand people lived in the district (94.7% compared to the 1989 census), of which 0.6 thousand people (0.8%) were Russians and 0.5 thousand Poles people (0.7% in relation to the entire population) [2] .
