Geography
Gornostaevsky district is located in the central part of the Kherson region. The regional center is an urban-type settlement Gornostaevka. The total area of the district is 101.8 thousand ha. On the territory of the district is the Kakhovka reservoir . A map of the Gornostaevsky district of the Kherson region will help to visualize its location.
History
In 1923, as a result of the first reform of the administrative-territorial division of the Ukrainian SSR , the Kherson District was formed, which included the Gornostaevsky District. The newly formed district consisted of Prince-Grigorov and Blagoveshchensk volosts.
After the formation of the district in 1923, an increase in adult literacy began. Two years later, 19 educational institutions and 6 illiteracy schools were created in the district, in which mainly women aged 18 to 50 studied. Illiteracy was overcome by the end of the 30s.
In 1928, mass collectivization of peasant farms began, which was completed until 1933.
In April 1930, a branch of the State Bank was opened in Gornostaevka, for the loans of which collective farms, enterprises, institutions and individual peasants began the construction of utility rooms, residential buildings. By decision of the All-Union Central Executive Committee on February 17, 1935 on the disaggregation of areas in the Odessa region, 29 new districts were created, including Gornostaevsky, whose territory is now part of the Kherson region. In 1935, the Stalinets regional newspaper began to appear, to which almost all the yards were subscribed.
In 1941, fierce battles were fought with the Germans of the troops of the 9th and 18th armies of the Southern Front (commanders - Colonel General Cherevichenko, Major General Smirnov and Lieutenant General Ryabishev). The area was liberated by fighters of units and formations of the 5th shock, 44th combined arms army, 2nd guards mechanized, 5th guards Don Cossack cavalry corps.
For 1945-1950 the economy of the region destroyed by the war was rebuilt. Already in 1949, by the efforts of collective farms, pre-war acreage was completely restored, all livestock farms were revived, and the work of MTS improved. Significant work has been done to restore schools and cultural and educational institutions.
At the end of 1943, the district department of public education, one eight-year-old and high schools, resumed work. In 1944, the regional newspaper "Stalinets" renewed its output. Until 1949, five movie shifts and radio nodes operated in the district. In the years 1948-1949. an inter-collective farm hatchery was built for 195 thousand egg places. By 1950, a semi-mechanized bakery was built, baking 12 tons of bakery products per day, a typical clinic, a stationary hospital, a kindergarten and a nursery, and a water pump station.
Since 1956, Gornostaevka belongs to the category of urban-type settlements. In 1958, the Druzhba collective farm was created on the basis of the farm named after March 8 and Chervony Partizan. The farm specializes in the production of crops, mainly wheat. Dry-growing crops such as corn also occupy a significant place.
At the beginning of 1963, according to the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian SSR of December 30, 1962, further consolidation of rural areas took place in all regions of the republic. Among the liquidated areas of the Kherson region was Gornostaevsky.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian SSR of January 4, 1965, changes were made to the administrative zoning. The disaggregation of areas. Thus, the Gornostaevsky district became an administrative unit. In 1970, to the 50th anniversary of the GOELRO plan , the electrification of the district was completed.
Culture and Education
Currently, there are two secondary schools in Gornostaevka, the Children's Music School, and the district cultural center. The village has a children's district library.
