Biography
Born October 1, 1918 in with. Murmino [1] . The son of a peasant - a participant in the first world and civil wars Vasily Panfilovich Vazherkin and a collective farmer who was repeatedly elected deputy of the village Council, Pelageya Alekseevna Vazherkina. He graduated from junior high school. He worked as a carpenter.
In the Soviet Army since 1938 - served in the Far East . In the battles of World War II from February 1942 . Sniper of the 30th Khasan Rifle Regiment ( 102nd Far East Rifle Division of the NKVD , 48th Army, Central Front). Sergeant, squad leader. The sniper . He actively participated in the development of the sniper movement in parts of the division. In defensive battles on the Kursk Bulge and in a counterattack, according to official figures, he destroyed at least 148 enemy soldiers and officers. He was known as a brave scout and initiative commander. Under enemy fire, among the first to swim, he crossed the Desna River and destroyed the enemy’s weapons. In a battle in September 1943, he replaced a failed platoon commander, and on September 16, 1943, in a battle near Novgorod-Seversky (Chernihiv Oblast), a seriously wounded company commander. Under his command, the company marched 170 km with battles and liberated 16 settlements. Member of the CPSU since 1943 . The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded on January 15, 1944 (the first in the division Hero of the Soviet Union).
In 1944, he was sent to study at the Alma-Ata border school, after which he served in the border troops on the Black Sea coast. He was later transferred to teaching. In 1948 and 1955 he graduated from advanced training courses for officers (CLC). Since 1956 - reserve captain, taught military affairs at school number 8 in Ryazan . He lived in Ryazan - house number 15 on Shchedrin's passage (a memorial plaque was installed). He was awarded the Order of Lenin, 2 Orders of the Red Star, and medals.
He died on December 27, 1971 . He was buried at the Sysoevsky cemetery in Ryazan .
