Story
The film tells the love story of a Frenchwoman and a Scot. She was a student who came on vacation to Scotland from Paris , and he was a local Scottish fisherman. They had different upbringing, different tastes, but between them, like a spark, love broke out.
The film begins in the late 50s of the XX century. Georgie Mack Even is a young girl living in Paris. She comes for a vacation in Scotland, where she meets Gavin, a simple peasant guy. She falls in love with him and spends the night with him.
A year later, Georgie again comes to Scotland and again meets Gavin, who is already engaged to another. Georgie and Gavin, despite this, continue their love relationship. In subsequent years, Georgie studies, and Gavin works as a fisherman. Gavin offers her lover to marry him, but she refuses.
In the future, both Georgie and Gavin marry, but with other people in the marriage they have children. After a few years of marriage, Georgie gets divorced and goes to Canada . And Gavin at this time participates in fishermen's protests against government policy.
Despite everything, Georgie and Gavin continue their relationship, meeting throughout their lives, and these meetings were full of love and passion. Georgie explains to Gavin why she did not agree to marry him — she could not live with a simple fisherman. About 30 years after they met, their last meeting takes place, after which Gavin dies.
