TIZ AM-600 is a model of motorcycles produced in 1935-1941 by the Taganrog Tool Plant ("Taganrog Tool Plant No. 65 named after Comrade Stalin"), and after the evacuation, by the Tyumen Motorcycle Plant (1941-1943). Used by the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War .

History
In 1935, the People’s Commissariat of Industry of the USSR decided to produce at the TIZ (Taganrog Tool Plant) a Soviet twin of the English BSA Sloper motorcycle with a 600 cc lower valve engine and a four-speed gearbox. Previously samples were purchased, the NATI motorcycle department dismantled the machine sample, made working drawings, converted the inch sizes and tolerances to metric, performed a metallographic analysis of the parts, guessing their heat treatment. The first three motorcycles (factory index - TIZ-1) were assembled by May 1, 1935. They participated in the festive May Day demonstration, causing admiration for the Taganrozhites [1] . In 1936, the motorcycle was approved for serial production (it was intended for the Red Army, the NKVD , and the People's Liberation Army of China [2] ). Motorcycles TIZ AM-600 showed excellent results in the test run of 7,000 km in the Pamirs and in the All-Union competitions for the championship in motor sports [1] . Thanks to the high technical culture of production, the TIZ AM-600 motorcycles have gained a reputation as reliable and durable machines. Issued with a sidecar , and for the needs of the army and the NKVD - with a turret for a machine gun [1] . Also at TIZ, production of engines for these motorcycles was established. In addition, they were the most powerful Soviet motorcycles at that time.
In 1941, motorcycle production was evacuated to the Tyumen Motorcycle Plant, where it was assembled until 1943 .
Description
The TIZ AM-600 motorcycle was equipped with a single-cylinder lower-valve 595cc engine with a power of 16.5 hp. [3] , a combined lubrication system (under pressure and spraying), a four- speed gearbox in a separate crankcase , a multi-plate dry clutch , a tubular composite frame that does not have markings and information plates manufactured at Plant No. 65 named after Comrade Stalin. Parallel soldered with cast elements, parallelogram fork, steering wheel, fixed to the fork through rubber shock absorbing bushings, deep wings and interchangeable wheels (for the first time in the USSR) with straight-sided (also for the first time in the USSR) tires Tew 4.00-19. In contrast to the prototype, a welded triangular truss of pipes was used instead of a forged beam combined with a steering head. The saddle was also made different. The clutch and brake control levers are of the “German” type (the ends of the levers did not look outward, but inward - when dropped, the risk of damage to them was reduced). The rest of the car remained typically English: the brake pedal under the left foot, the kickstarter on the right, the gears were shifted by the lever, not the pedal. The engine ran on gasoline with an octane rating of 66, and Avtol-8 oil ( Avtol-6 in winter) was used as lubricant. The low quality of the oil and the absence of a filter in the lubrication system required frequent oil changes (every thousand kilometers). By turning the needle valve head, it was possible to change the amount of oil entering the oil pump.
Torque from the engine to the gearbox and from the gearbox to the rear wheel was transmitted in chains without tight housings. Motorcycles were painted in soft colors, no chrome plating was used (the exhaust pipe and the fishtail muffler were also not chrome plated).
The 1940 modification received an aluminum alloy cylinder head, increased cylinder fin area, a modified oil pump, an enlarged oil reservoir in the crankcase, shortened wings with a rib in the middle, new 3.75-19 tires (with herringbone tread) and the ability to attach a stroller from motorcycle M-72 .
