Montargil ( port. Montargil ) - a district (fregezia) in Portugal , part of the Portalegre district. It is an integral part of the municipality of Ponte de Sor . According to the old administrative division, it was part of the province of Ribatejo . Included in the economic and statistical subregion of Altu-Alentejo , which is included in Alentejo . The population is 2,781 in 2001 . It covers an area of 296.76 km².
