Atalaya ( port. Atalaia ) - a region (fregezia) in Portugal , part of the Portalegre district. It is an integral part of the municipality of Gavyan . According to the old administrative division, it was part of the province of Altu Alentejo . Included in the economic and statistical subregion of Altu-Alentejo , which is included in Alentejo . The population is 165 people for 2001 . It covers an area of 19.35 km².
