History
In 1915, the population of the city was only 200 people. After 1918, people from all over Argentina began to arrive in the city. Economic growth began in 1946 , when a group of scientists discovered natural gas deposits in the area of the city.

Population in 1991 : 12,750, in 2001 - 14,985, of which 49.7% are women and 50.3% are men. Population growth was 17.5% in 2001, compared with 1991. In 2015, the population reached 24 thousand people. Pico Truncado is the third largest city in the province of Santa Cruz.
