Born in the London Paddington area. Parents: father Anthony Miter, half English by birth, half Bengali , mother of Nora Downey of Irish descent. Rona is the middle child in the family, has older and younger brothers. The actress's parents divorced in 1984 . She was brought up in the Catholic faith ^[5] . After her parents divorced, Ron studied at private private schools for girls, but was expelled twice from there. Rona Mitra’s career in the big movie began very modestly. Her first roles were episodic and did not take much time on the screen. In the film "Monk Dawson," she played the cameo role of a prostitute. In the movie "Croupier" her heroine did not even have a name, being designated in the credits as "a girl with grass," and remained in the frame for less than one minute ^[14] . Although in the same 1997 Miter managed to get the big role of Princess Scheherazade in the comedy fantasy “The First Knight at the Court of Aladdin” ^[15] , this low-budget film was immediately released on DVD and the actress did not bring significant fame. Beowulf did not become a breakthrough, where Mitra got the main female role and played in tandem with Christopher Lambert . The film received derogatory criticism ^{[16] [17]} , failed at the box office , and immediately went to the video in the United States. Nevertheless, critics noted the beauty and sexuality of Rona Mitra ^[18] , although they left her acting skills ^{[19] [20]} without comment.

After filming in Beowulf , the actress decides to move to the United States to try her luck in Hollywood. The first in the American period was the role in one of the episodes of the series "Secret Agent", where Mitra portrayed a zombie girl - a professional killer. In the same 2000, Rona appeared in two small roles in high-budget Hollywood projects - “ Remove Carter ” ^[21] and “ Invisible ”. The first of them, despite the participation of Sylvester Stallone, completely failed at the box office and earned marks as one of the worst films of the year ^[22] . Accordingly, the small role of Mithra went completely unnoticed. In the second, the actress played a very small role, which took a little more than two minutes of screen time. Her character did not even have a name and was indicated in the credits as a neighbor of Sebastian . During the episode, the invisible man penetrated her apartment and raped the half-naked heroine. But the rape scene was cut from the rolling version of the film.

In 2002, a new film with the participation of Rona Mitra - “ Stylish little thing ” was released on the big screen where she played a secondary and completely insignificant role of the girlfriend ^{[23] of the} main character played by Reese Witherspoon . In addition, she played an episodic role as the secretary of the British minister in the film “ Ali G in Parliament ” ^[24] , with the participation of the British comedian Sasha Baron Cohen , who immediately went on DVD, without having been in the box office.

She seduces the main character, and then accuses him of rape, and although the charge remains unproven, it destroys the character of Kevin Spacey . Rona Mitra also appeared in a tiny role in the comedy “ Stuck in You ”, but her character stayed on the screen for only 15 seconds without saying a word, and was credited in the credits as “Beauty from the bus stop” ^[28] .

Miter’s next appearance on the big screen took place only three years later in the film “ Werewolves .” The actress played the role of the boy’s mother, whom she protects from the attack of bad werewolves ^[29] . Nevertheless, the film was extremely negatively criticized and failed at the box office ^[30] . In 2007, two more films were released with her participation, “ Fatal Number 23 ” ^[31] and “ Shooter ” ^[32] . Here Mitra again played only episodic roles in which her external data and sexuality were exploited ^[22] .

A definite step forward for Rona Mitra was the 2008 Doomsday movie ^[33] . The picture itself, shot in the style of postmodern trash, did not have much success at the box office, but for the first time, the actress got the opportunity to play the main role, and the role of the heroine of an action movie completely unexpected for her ^[34] . To maximize compliance with the image of her heroine, the actress took a course of intensive physical training ^[35] . As a result of her successful work in Doomsday, Mitra was invited to play the main female role in the film Another World: Rise of the Lycans , which is a prequel to the franchise Underworld. The film catastrophically failed at the box office, collecting only $ 7,306 and went almost unnoticed by the general public ^[52] , although it received positive criticism, including for the role of Rona Mitra ^[53] . In the New Zealand drama " The Truth About Men, " Miter played the role of the protagonist's mistress ^[54] . Critics noted the undoubted attractiveness of the actress, but considered that among the heroes of the film she looked like a foreign body ^[55] .

In 2011, Rona Mitra took part in the filming of the detective thriller "Loft" - a remake of the Belgian film of the same name in 2008 , where she played a small and inconspicuous supporting role. The picture was released in 2014 and did not have much success ^[56] . Then she receives an invitation to star in one of the main roles in the ABC series Gideon Crossing , dedicated to the life of doctors, where she played Dr. Alexandra Klein . In 2001, the series was released, but was closed after the first season, due to low ratings.

Much more successful was the participation of Rona Mitra in legal series. In 2003-2004, the eighth season of the popular series “ Practice ” was released, where Mitra played the role of Tara Wilson , a law school student who works as a trainee in a Boston law firm. The invitation of Mitra, like James Spader and Sharon Stone , was caused by the desire of the producers to “refresh” the series with new cross-cutting characters ^[57] . Although the series was closed after this season, the audience created a romantic image created by Mitra and the actress received an invitation to go to the spin-off of “Practice” - “ Boston Lawyers ” ^[58] . In 2004, the mini-series "Spartak" was released , where Mitra played the role of a fictional heroine, Varinia - the beloved of Spartak ^[59] . The character himself turned out to be somewhat implausible, since according to the plot Varinia turned out to be both a strategist , a philosopher , and a feminist ^[60] , but she received rare praise from critics ^[61] , although in general, very little attention was paid to her work.

In 2005, Rona Mitra took part in the TV series Parts of the Body , which tells about the life of plastic surgeons, where for five episodes of the third season she played the role of British detective Keith McGraw ^[62] arriving in Miami to capture a sex maniac named Rezak crippling women ^[63] . After a not-so-successful career on a big movie screen, Ron Mitra returned to television. In 2010, she appeared in the role of the negative character, Commander Kiva ^[64] , in three episodes of the series “ Stargate: The Universe ” ^{[65] [66]} . The role of the vampire woman in “Another World: Rise of the Lycans” entailed her invitation to the mystical series “ The Gates ” ^{[67] [68]} , where Mithra played the role of a vampire, and her heroine, being a vampire, nevertheless tried to lead the human way of life and even raised an adopted human child together with her vampire husband ^[69] . Low ratings entailed the closure of this series after the first season, which was shown in 2010 ^[70] .

In 2012, the thriller “ Crisis Moment ”, shot immediately for TV, was released on television, where Mitra played the main role ^[71] . Subsequently, the series was extended for another two seasons, but the character of Mitra was killed in the last episode of the second season.

In the wake of her popularity as a model of Lara Croft, Mitra attempted to make herself known in the world of pop music . In 1997, her single Getting Naked ^{[77] was released} , and in 1998 she released her first musical album Come Alive , produced by Dave Stewart , known as a member of Eurythmics . Work on the album was conducted in France . Due to the termination of Mitra’s contract with Eidos, the album did not receive proper support and was released only in France in a very small circulation.
